Welcome to Kang’s Black Belt Academy
Be Confident, Be Safe, Be Strong.
Kang’s Black Belt Academy’s programs are based on the core values and tenets of traditional Tae Kwon Do training. The emphasis is on personal achievement and improvement. We start with respect and develop students’ skills relating to: integrity, perseverance, self-control, integrity, and discipline. Kang’s core curriculum will teach you blocking and striking techniques, multiple forms and move combinations, as well as sparring and real-world self-defense application.
Through skills and techniques, our students grow and strengthen their attitudes, behavior and overall character development.
Students 3-5 years old begin with the Lil’ Dragons program. They are introduced to martial arts through fun activities and drills. Students learn life and safety skills, discipline and respect.
Students 6-8 years old are part of the Kid Tigers program. They learn practical self-defense and physical fitness along with respectful behavior, goal setting and achievement, and improved focus.
Students 9 years old – Adults learn the tenets of traditional Tae Kwon Do, with an emphasis on personal achievement and improvement. Students learn discipline, self-awareness, self-control and self-defense.
Adults who do not want to spar or jump can join the Pink Ninjas/Blue Ninjas program in which they learn the tenets of Tae Kwon Do, forms, and self-defense in a modified curriculum.
We absolutely love Kang's Black Belt Academy for our grandchildren! Not only are they learning the basics of karate they're learning teamwork, respect, and kindness. The staff at Kang's are very knowledgeable about child development, loving and encouraging.
We highly recommend Kang's!

My son has been coming to Kang's for almost 6 years now and I cannot say enough great things about the studio, instructors, and program. Through Kangs, my son has become more focused and disciplined and as an added bonus, he really enjoys it. Its the one activity he wants to do every day. The owners treat their students (and parents) like family. Kangs is top notch.

I've been at Kang's for almost a year now. It was my first step back into the world of Tae Kwon Do after a four year break, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the school. I've trained in Tae Kwon Do on and off for over forty years, and have been to my share of schools over the years, some good, some not so much. While I do hold a black belt, it is in a different style of Tae Kwon Do (KKW/WTF) than what Kang's teaches.
Kang's has a good, healthy training environment, with a good number of very engaged black belt level students who have remained, and who do a lot to make new students feel welcome, and who serve as mentors to the colored belt students.
Master Malakoff and his wife run an excellent program, and maintain a training environment that encourages each student to achieve and to excel. If you're in the Olney/Sandy Spring/Ashton area, and are looking for a good Tae Kwon Do school, look no further; you've found it at Kang's.

I️ am so grateful to Kang’s Black Belt Academy. Master Mark & Ms. Mary Ann came to a blood drive that I️ coordinated, setting up a fun obstacle course and sharing valuable life lessons. The kids, & parents loved it! I’ve never seen that many kids hyped up on sugar/cookies, sit that still for a story!
If you have yet to check out their program, PLEASE give them a call, they are absolutely the best.
